Welcome to our website, which we hope you find informative & helpful. The HXRA consists of Elm Park, Hacton, Hylands and St. Andrews Wards.  We are a non party political association which was formed in 1933 to assist local residents who needed our help, and our members come from all walks of life and beliefs.

We believe in local affairs being run by local people, not national parties.  The HXRA supports Resident Association Councillors of which, at this time in the HXRA area, we have five.  We believe in democracy, freedom, independent representation on our local council, and the right to live our lives in peace and dignity.

URGENT - GAS MAIN WORKS
UPPER RAINHAM ROAD

We have been informed (22 Sept) that the National Grid is undertaking gas mains replacement works at the junction of Elm Park Avenue and Upper Rainham Road.  Part of the Upper Rainham Road carriageway is closed, with traffic being controlled by 3-way traffic lights.  During peak times these lights will be replaced by a manual Stop/Go board to help alleviate lengthy queues.

In addition, resurfacing works are also taking place in Upper Rainham Road at Roneo Corner.

These works will last approximately three weeks.

URGENT - PROPOSED PARLIAMENTARY CONSTITUENCY CHANGES

These proposals mean some changes to Havering, and in particular for us returning Elm Park, South Hornchurch and Rainham Wards into the Hornchurch and Upminster Constituency which we welcome.

Two of Havering's Wards, Brooklands and Mawneys, will be joined with eight from Barking and Dagenham to make a new consituency called Dagenham North.

The Boundary Commission is undertaking a consultation exercise which runs to 5 December, and it is very important that residents make their views on the proposals.  To take part, click the link below:

CHANGES TO
SAFER NEIGHBOURHOOD TEAMS

There has been a review of SNTs, following which the following wards will have their teams combined, each team having one Sergeant:

Elm Park and Hacton
Upminster and Cranham
Mawney and Havering Park
Squirrels Health and Pettits

The new Elm Park & Hacton team will be supervised by Sgt Ken McNish, who many of you know as he is the existing Elm Park Sgt.

M25 WIDENING AND
CENTRAL RESERVATION WORKS

Road widening on the clockwise carriageway J29 to J30 should be finished in October 2011.  From November through to February 2012 road widening work will be carried out betwen J29 and J30.

In February the construction of the central reservation starts and this work will continue through to June 2012.

VEHICLE OBSTRUCTION

If you have been unable to use your driveway because someone has parked across your dropped kerb, but you have been unable to get assistance please contact Terry Matthews on 442751 or email terryllb@ntlworld.com and he will explain exactly what the Council and/or the Police can do in these circumstances.

MAJOR MAINS WATER WORKS

Works started between Billet Lane and North Street in September, moving on to North Street and Station Lane in the second half of the month.

During October work will be carried out between Station Lane and Ravenscourt Grove and in November the works will be in Upminster Road to Upminster Bridge Station.

It should be over by December - just in time for the regeneration road works to start in Hornchurch Town Centre in the New Year!

THINK "LOCAL", BUY LOCAL

We are very concerned about the effects of the current financial climate on our local shops and tradesmen.  Elm Park,  Hornchurch and Upminster cater for all your needs, so help us with our campaign to THINK "LOCAL", BUY LOCAL.  Here's how:-

  • Have a good look along our shopping parades, you'll be surprised at the variety of businesses we have.

  • Be confident when using our advertisers, they are all local.

  • Use the link below (or phone 442751) to get a list of Recommended Contractors - who are all tradesmen used and recommended by residents like you.

IF YOU DON'T USE IT, YOU'LL LOSE IT

LIFT, LOCK, REMOVE

Our Hacton Safer Neighbourhood Team has asked us to remind you to be vigilant to ensure that you are not a victim of a burglary.  Lock your front and back doors properly don't just close them as many residents have been shown previously as part of the campaign they ran a while ago “LIFT, LOCK, REMOVE”.

Remember also to place car keys away from your front door, possibly place them in a draw or take them upstairs with you.
