The SNT holds drop-in surgeries where
residents can call in to speak to officers and PCSO's.
Due to operational duties it is not possible to arrange these
for a long period in advance. It is recommended that
residents ring the SNT to ascertain the next available date
and time or go to the police web-site via our home page or go

Flight Paths and
Aircraft
Noise
|
The
issues surrounding the proposed revision of the flight paths
used by aircraft going in and out of
London
City
Airport
are causing residents of Havering, particularly those who live
in Hornchurch, serious concerns.
Recent
months seem to have brought an increase in the number and
frequency of aircraft passing overhead in the Borough and many
residents that I have spoken to recently are very unhappy with
the way the Conservative controlled Council has dealt with
their concerns.
Perhaps
I should have said how the current Administration has not
dealt with their concerns. There was an opportunity to make
representation about the proposed changes in 2007/8 but all
that the current Administration did was signal support for the
changes without any attempt seek the views of residents. The
reason for doing this is that Havering will benefit
economically from the increased flights because they will
provide employment for people in Havering and bring business
to the borough.
The
claims were made during a recent debate in Council although
there was precious little detail on how many jobs it would
actually create for Havering people. Some Conservative
Councillors, including those from Hylands Ward, have recently
declared their support for the campaign started by the MP for
Romford which purports to object to the proposals for
London
City.
Unfortunately
the public stance seems to differ from the private one as
these same Councillors voted with their Tory colleagues
against the motion that criticised the Conservatives about the
lack of consultation with the public on these very
issues.
Clearly
the best interests of the public are not being given due
consideration by the Tories and they cannot be relied upon to
work in our best interests.

HYLANDS PARK ACTION
GROUP |
Hylands Park Action Group is very interested
in collating history and memories of bygone days in the park.
We know that from 1925 -1927 the area that is now the park,
hosted a trotting track. Do any Focus readers have any
photographs or memories of this or perhaps of early tennis or
cricket days? We would love to hear from you and assure you
that any photos will be treated with care and returned.
(Please supply contact details) The group will shortly
be undertaking a public consultation, seeking the views of
residents on forthcoming projects in the park, including oral
history and hope to be able to include at least one local
school.
If any readers are
able to pass on some memories, however small, please contact
the group by email -hylandspark@hotmail.co.uk or to:- HPAG c/o 82 Hyland Way RM11
1DZ.
We look forward to seeing and
hearing from you
